Description	:	Eugene Mack Percy, 87, of rural Douglas County died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at his home. He was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Carlyle, to Mack J. and Pearl P. Latimer Percy. He graduated from Iola High School in 1942. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from Washburn University in 1950, a master of science degree from Emporia State Teachers College in 1961 and a doctorate in education from Kansas University in 1973. He was born Nov. 11, 1923, in Carlyle, to Mack J. and Pearl P. Latimer Percy. He graduated from Iola High School in 1942. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in music from Washburn University in 1950, a master of science degree from Emporia State Teachers College in 1961 and a doctorate in education from Kansas University in 1973. He was an educator, his career spanning from 1950 to 1981. He was a member of the Christian Church where he served as deacon and elder. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 65 years. On May 9, 1947, he married Ramona Z. Riepen in Topeka. She survives as do their children, Ianthe and Pat Wozniak, Garden City, MO, Rebecca Percy, Lawrence, Melissa and Stan Drumm, Spokane, WA, Patricia and George Ferguson, Kansas City, and Renetta Jean and Brad Dawson, Hays; seven grandchildren, Jami, Andy, Brian, Meranda, Peggy, Annie and Jack; 15 great-grandchildren; and four brothers; Robert, Oscar, William Glenn and Claude A brother, Carl, died earlier. Memorial services Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel in Topeka with military honors presented by a burial detail from Fort Riley. Inurnment in Highland Cemetery, Iola at a later date. Memorials to Washburn University Music Department, and the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Rehabilitation and Hospice.
