Description	:	Services for the Dr. J.H. McElroy were held Sunday from the Lamoni Coliseum, with Elder L.G. Holloway assisted by Rev. Charles Howard Draper officiating. Dr. McElroy died Friday, July 19, following an illness of almost 4 years. The Coliseum was filled with relatives and friends attesting to the high esteem in which Doctor McElroy and his family were held not only in this community but others in which they lived. Dr. McElroy died Friday, July 19, following an illness of almost 4 years. The Coliseum was filled with relatives and friends attesting to the high esteem in which Doctor McElroy and his family were held not only in this community but others in which they lived. Many of the doctor's professional friends paid their final respects to the memory of their friend by their presence at the last rites and through floral tributes. Doctor McElroy was the son of Mary Bonham and John H. McElroy, early settlers of Ringgold county. He was born July 25, 1872, the eldest of six children, four of whom died in infancy. On March 24, 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna E. Dailey and to this union a son, Raymond, was born. After receiving his degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Chicago, Doctor McElroy located in Grant City, Mo., where he practiced his profession, organized and operated the Grant City Serum Company. He accepted a federal position in 1934 and was assigned to the state of Mississippi to do eradication work. In 1936 the family returned to Lamoni where Doctor McElroy served the farmers of the area until 4 years ago when he suffered the accident which later resulted in his death. In addition to the widow and son, the other survivors include the daughter-in-law, Carrie McElroy, three grandchildren, John McElroy and family of Leadville, Colo., Mrs. Herbert Dennis and family of St. Louis, Mo., and An**belle, of Denver, a brother, W. of Lamoni, and other relatives.
