Bob was born near Albert City, Iowa, on December 13, 1934, to William and Christine (Momsen) Klindt. Bob was born near Albert City, Iowa, on December 13, 1934, to William and Christine (Momsen) Klindt. He graduated from Albert City High School in 1953, and received a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 1959. He was married to Martha Marsh of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, on June 7, 1959, until her death on July 22, 2000. Bob served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps from 1959 to 1961, as the officer in charge of the Veterinary Food Inspection Detachment. He and Martha were stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco. In the summer of 1961, Bob and Martha moved to Montfort where he joined the Montfort Veterinary Service. Bob became a partner and co-owner in 1963, retiring in 1995. His professional affiliations were: member of the American Veterinary Medical Association; member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association; member of the Southwest Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association – past president and past secretary; member of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners. Bob was very active in the community. He was the past chairman of finance and pastor-parish committee member at the Montfort United Methodist Church. He was a past member of the Iowa-Grant School Board. He was a president of the village board in Montfort; member and president of Ruritan National; member of Ferrin Lodge #165 and past master. Through the years Bob assisted with Little League, Boys Scouts, and 4-H. He is survived by four children: his son R. John Klindt of Marietta, Georgia; Julie (Jim) Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; Jane (Brian) Sabrowsky of Seymour, Wisconsin; and Lisa (Robert) Simpson of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Bob is also survived by eight grandchildren: Lindsey, Molly, Will and Lauren Anderson; Ben and Kelly Sabrowsky; and Marlee and Avery Simpson. He will also be missed by his companion of many years, Donna Petersen of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Bob had a work ethic that was unparalleled by any, whether it was in his veterinary practice, working in the yard or on the farm. He loved being outdoors: to garden, build a campfire, or take a hike through pastures and woods after studying platte maps. When his beloved wife was too ill to travel after his retirement, he helped plan and build a beautiful cabin in her favorite spot on a bluff at their farm. But mostly, Bob will be remembered and dearly missed for the twinkle in his eye, his big impish grin, his love of playing cards with friends, his terrible dancing at weddings and parties, and his commitment and love of his family. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday morning January 18, 2014 at the Montfort United Methodist Church. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Saturday morning. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family requests memorials to the Robert and Martha Klindt Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family.
