Blanche Krause was born in Webster county, Nebraska, southeast of Blue Hill, on February 19, 1889, to William B. and Dora (Grove) Shirley, and died at the Webster County Community hospital in Red Cloud, Nebr., on April 28, 1965. On September 11, 1907, she was united in marriage to Andrew F. Krause. To this union were born three daughters, Gladys, Ruby and another daughter who died in infancy. In March 1908 she was united with the Grace Evangelical Church at Rosemont, Nebraska, and in 1918 her membership was transferred to the Blue Hill Methodist church. She was a charter member of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church and of the American Legion Auxiliary of Blue Hill as well as a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Survivors include her daughters, Mrs. Cecil Fell (Gladys), Mrs. Carl Hoffman (Ruby), of Blue Hill, two granddaughters, Mrs. Jack Carpenter (Shirley Fell) of Rapid City, So. Dak., and Mrs. Paul Kauhlman (Barbara Hoffman) of Los Angeles, Calif., and three great grandchildren, Todd, Ronald and Jacqueline Carpenter, one sister, Mrs. F.H. Stevens (Dollie), of Lincoln, and one brother, J. Gilbert Shirley of Englewood Colo. Her husband and an infant daughter preceded her in death. Funeral services were held in the Blue Hill Methodist church on Saturday, May 1, 1965 with Rev. Truman Bachenberg officiating. A niece, Mrs. Raymond Vogt, of Elmwood was organist, playing the prelude music and accompanying her sisters, Mrs. Raymond Brakhage, of Lincoln, and Mrs. Max Sims, of Bellvue in two vocal selections, “Beyond the Sunset” and “Prayer Perfect” Mary Ellen Jones was organist for the post lude. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Delbert Arterburn, Robert Call, and Dennis Call, of North Platte, Calvin Stevens, of North Loup, Raymond Brakhage of Lincoln, Max Sims, of Bellvue, Robert Shirley, of Denver, Colo., Malvern Myers, and Gary Myers, of Thornton, Colo, and Donald Call, of Fort Carson, Colo.
