Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Holmes Funeral Home in Valentine, NE with burial following at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Duane was born in Kilgore, NE on January 24, 1937, the son of Nile and Ella (Homan) Breuklander. He attended school in Crookston, NE, and then worked for ranchers near Valentine. Duane married Jean Morton in 1959. The couple divorced in 1972, but remained friends the rest of their lives. He became a mechanic and moved to Omaha, where he worked for several service stations before moving to Denver, CO. Duane married Betty Kruger and the couple later divorced. He retired in 2005 and moved to Wentworth, SD so he could enjoy the outdoors. Duane enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He had many friends, was everyone's friend, and helped out many people over the years. Survivors include his children, Rita (Jeff) Todd of South Sioux City, NE, Steve Breuklander of Deer Trail, CO, Aleana (Jay) Fox of Thornton, CO, Christina (Heawa) Chualan of Firestone, CO; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Jim) Bowman of Max, NE; sister-in-law, Glenys of OK; his lifelong best friend, Ed Thomas of Omaha, NE; 4 nieces and 1 nephew; and he also considered as family, Jeffery Marchand of Thornton, CO, Marty Marchand of Brush, CO, Joe Marchand of TX, Christine Brueklander of Thornton, CO and their 11 children. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Nile and Ella Breuklander; step-father, Victor King; a brother, Cordell Breuklander; and extended family member, Chad Breuklander.
