Description	:	Dudley was the son of Isaiah Walton and Eliza Jane Hall. He married Jane Montgomery on February 15, 1863 in Lancaster Indiana. He served with Co. A of the 9th IN Cavalry. Verified by Tony & Cindy Lloyd, per list of veteran burials in this cemetery. Dudley Walton was born November 21, 1840, near Madison, Ind., where he grew to manhood. He was a graduate of College Hill of Lancaster, Ind. After leaving college, he took up the profession of school teaching for a few years and continued in the profession sometime after his marriage. He was married to Miss Jane Montgomery of Crothersville, Ind., February 15, 1863. To this union five children were born: William M. of Deaver, Wyo., Mrs. Eliza C. Black of Casey, Ill., Emery R., who died in infancy, Benjamin F. and Marion E. of Geneva. In April, 1863, Mr. Walton enlisted in Company A, Ninth Indiana Legion, for three years, or during the war. At the age of twenty hears, he became a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Lancaster, Ind., and he led a devoted Christian life until his death. He was a devoted husband and a kind and loving father. He always had a kind word and a smiling face for everybody. Mr. and Mrs. Walton moved from Indiana to Illinois in 1876. After residing in Illinois ten years, they moved to Edgar, Neb. In 1890 they moved to Geneva, and this has been their home since that time. He leaves besides his devoted wife and four children; one sister, Mrs. Rhoda Rowlison of Ong, Neb.; two brothers, Abraham of Kansas City, Mo., and Lucius of Kimberly, Idaho. Mr. Walton passed away at his home in Geneva, Nebraska at 2:15 p.m. June 19, 1922, aged 81 years, 6 months and 29 days. The funeral took place from the Geneva Methodist Episcopal Church at 2:30 p.m. June 21. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. Many sorrowing friends gathered to pay tribute to his memory. For four years Mr. Walton had carried the mail between the Geneva post office and the Burlington station, and all post office employees attended the funeral, the office being closed. Abraham Walton and Mrs. Rhoda Rowlison, brother and sister; and W. M. Walton of Deaver, Wyo., son; Glen Walton of Rupert, Idaho, grandson; and a number of relatives from Clay County attended the funeral. The pallbearers were the three sons of the deceased, B. F. Walton and Marion Walton of Geneva; and W. M. Walton of Deaver, Wyo., and three grandsons, Glen Walton of Rupert, Idaho; Gerald and Gale Walton of Geneva, all sons of B. F. Walton.
