Dwaine “Pete” Bubke was born on September 12, 1927, near Battle Creek, IA, the son of Emil and Anna (Petersen) Bubke. At the age of two years he moved with his family to the family farm south of Ida Grove, IA. He attended country school at Grant #7. On August 22, 1948, he was united in marriage to Elaine Teghtmeyer in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove. This incredible union lasted more than 70 years. Six children were born to this union: Patricia, Sandra, Dennis, David, Leslie, and Rodney. Pete and Elaine spent the next 38 years raising their family and farming in Ida and Sac Counties. From 1987-1993 they owned and operated the Chief Motel in Pocahontas, IA. In 1993, the couple retired to Ida Grove. Pete enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, and was an avid reader. The most important thing to him was his family. Dwaine is survived by his wife Elaine; children Pat (George) Davison, Sandy (Daryl) Hecht, Dennis (Cathy) Bubke, Dave (Leslie) Bubke, Les (Libbi) Bubke, Rod (Nancy) Bubke; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; sister Helen Piper. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Anna Bubke; brothers Irvin, Glen, Elmer, Marvin and Raymond; sisters Ella and Irene; daughter-in-law Denise; and grandson Dwaine. ---
