Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Earl Benjamin McFarland, son of Samuel and Martha McFarland, was Born Nov. 6, 1886, on a farm north of Stratford. He received his education in the Stratford schools and grew to young manhood in that community. He was united in marriage Oct. 28, 1909, to Miss Mildred Carpenter, and the couple farmed in the Homer and Stratford communities until two years ago when they moved into Stratford, their home since. He is survived by his wife; one son, Claire McFarland of Stratford; two granddaughters, Mrs. Dick (Sandra) Shaw of Stratford and Miss Zelda McFarland, a teacher in the Van Meter, Iowa, schools; three great-grandchildren, Debra, Michael and Roland Dean Shaw; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Andrews of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Fred Dorries of St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. McFarland was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
