He was born on February 2, 1924, in Kentenia, KY, and moved to Beatrice with his mother in 1936. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942 and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Beatrice. He was born on February 2, 1924, in Kentenia, KY, and moved to Beatrice with his mother in 1936. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942 and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Beatrice. He served in the United States Armed Forces during both World War II and the Korean War. He served in the United States Marine Corps from January 20, 1942, until June 23, 1950. And he served in the United States Air Force from June 24, 1950, until November 16, 1953. He retired from U.S. Civil Service in 1979 after having served as a contracting officer for the Federal Aviation Administration and then the Veterans Administration. He lived in Oklahoma City for 13 years and had resided in Wichita, KS since 1962. He was a founding member of the Geddes-Thober Post #1077 of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Beatrice, a permanent member of the Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1857 in Oklahoma City, OK, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 in Wichita, KS, a life member, #361390, of the FIRST MARINE DIVISION ASSOCIATION, THE OLD BREED, a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 138 in Wichita, KS and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #531 of Beatrice, NE. Survivors include two sons, Mark Chadwell of Wichita, KS and Kurt Chadwell of Irving, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn C. and Sarah Ann Snider Chadwell, two brothers, Charles and Walter Chadwell and two sisters, Charlene Lowery and Lola Clough. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice with Rev. David A. Bigley officiating. A memorial has been established to the D.A.V. Service Officers. Closed casket visitation will be at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 8:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday. Graveside honors will be conducted by the Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice, Nebraska. Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice in charge of arrangements.
