Langdale, 90 years of age, of Lincoln, NE. formerly of Beatrice, NE. passed away in the Victorian Retirement Center in Lincoln, NE. Wednesday morning, February 5, 2003. He was born on October 11, 1912 at R. Clay Center, KS. He married Letta Black on February 10, 1934 in Beatrice, NE. and Beulah Kassing on March 12, 1989 in Lincoln, NE. He lived in Beatrice, NE. from 1928-1960 when he moved to Lincoln, NE. He was employed at the Wilkie Bakery in Beatrice, NE. from 1939-1960, at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. from 1952-1967, and at the Wendelin Bakery in Lincoln, NE. from 1960-1971. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lincoln, NE., was an active volunteer for the R.S.V.P., the A.B.L.E and area Retirement and Nursing Homes in Lincoln, NE. He was a member of the former Over 60 Club in Lincoln, NE. He enjoyed bingo and his work as a volunteer. Survivors include his son Earl E. "Gene" Langdale and his wife Dorothy of Lincoln, NE.; daughter Ardith Rummerfield of North Bend, Oregon; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sisters Helen Jurgens of Wahoo, NE. and Ruth Bendt of Luverne, Minnesota; and sister in law Eunice Langdale of Beatrice, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Maggie (Burguss) Langdale, his first wife Letta Langdale (1988), his second wife Beulah Langdale (2000), and brothers James and Dana Langdale. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 7, 2003 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1900 South 70th Street in Lincoln, NE. with Reverend Rod Thelander officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 P.M. Friday at the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Thursday from 10:00- 9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. and at the church one hour preceding the service. A memorial has been established with the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. in charge. Message of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice is in charge of the services.
