(AP). Earl Russell, 40, Stratton trucker, was killed instantly Thursday when the motor truck he was driving crashed into the rear of a stalled truck nine miles south of here. George Loop, riding with Russell, was seriously cut about the face. Russell's truck, loaded with hogs, was demolished. Earl McKinley Russell was born near Grafton, Neb., on July 30, 1896. He departed this life December 13, 1934, aged 38 years, 4 months and 13 days. He was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Russell, his passing away in 1916. In 1918 Earl enlisted in the army, remaining in the training camp at Manhatton (sic), Kas., until he was discharged from the service in December 1918. March 29, 1922, he was united in marriage to Ella Kleinschmidt of Grafton, Neb., and to their union four children were born. In the spring of 1925 they moved from Kimball, Neb., to Stratton, where they farmed until the spring of 1931, when they moved to town and Earl engaged in the trucking business. Earl was a kind husband and loving father. He possessed many traits of character which endeared him to a host of friends. His sudden death came as a great shock to them all, as well as to his family. He suffered fatal injuries in a truck accident. He leaves to mourn his death his devoted wife and his three sons, Marvin Earl, Robert Dale and Wayne LeRoy, an infant daughter having passed away. He is survived also my his mother, Mrs. E. Russell of Sutton, two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Salmen of Sutton and Mrs. Venda Phillips of Bushnell, and two brothers, Ray of Sutton and Thomas of Stratton. Funeral services were held from the Methodist Episcopal church (sic) in Sutton Sunday afternoon, December 16. The funeral was conducted by Rev. J.J. Pruitt, pastor of the church. The American Legion served as pall bearers and observed the customary ceremony at the grave.
