For many years they resided on a farm near Grafton. Five children were born to this union. Two sons and two daughters survive: Thomas of Stratton, Neb.; Ray and Mrs. Ernest Salmen of Sutton, Nebr.; and Mrs. Lewis Phillips of Bushnell, Nebr. The eldest son, Earl, passed away December 15 (sic), 1934. Her husband departed this life on January 16, 1916. A few years later she moved to Sutton, where she has since made her home. Mrs. Russell was a loving mother and enjoyed doing many acts of kindness for her children and friends. She was a member of the Maple Street United Brethren church (sic) of Sutton. Mrs. Russell departed this life April 21, 1936. She leaves to mourn her death, the four children, eleven grandchildren, three brothers, W.H .Hurst of Fairmont, Nebr.; Joseph of Warm Springs, Mont.; Andrew of Greybull, Wyo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Paxson of Augusta, Kas. and Miss Mae Hunt of Hastings, Nebr. Three sisters and three brother preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Methodist church at Sutton, conducted by Rev. Bertha B. Glover, pastor of the U.B. church (sic) and the remains were laid to rest in the Grafton cemetery (sic), where the husband is buried. Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were Thomas, of Stratton; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Phillips and family, Bushnell; Mrs. Lydia Paxson, Mrs. Floyd Hurst and daughter, Helen of Augusta, Kas.; Miss Mae Hunt and Miss Mildred Hurst, Hastings; Mrs. (sic) and Mrs. W.H. Hurst, Ruth and Harold of Fairmont. Mrs. Earl Russell of Stratton, Nebr., was unable to attend because of illness in her family — Sutton Register.
