Craig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Craig, was born in this city March 16, 1895 and departed this life Thursday morning, June 13th, at about 7 a.m. She was taken sick only the Sunday previous. While she was preparing for Sabbath School the first symptoms of the disease showed itself, and she was compelled to give up going and remain at home. Craig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Craig, was born in this city March 16, 1895 and departed this life Thursday morning, June 13th, at about 7 a.m. She was taken sick only the Sunday previous. While she was preparing for Sabbath School the first symptoms of the disease showed itself, and she was compelled to give up going and remain at home. As soon as the symptoms were considered the least serious a physician was called and all that human skill could do was done, but to no avail. In a little less than four days she was a corpse and her spirit had returned to the God who gave it. The cause of death was impaction of the bowels. Although a great sufferer she bore up with fortitude and patience. She had professed religion during the revival of Evangelist Williams, and had joined the M.E. Church on probation. Some two weeks ago when the probationers were taken into full membership she was ill and could not attend. She was fully prepared and not afraid to die, and before passing away she said she saw her sister and other relatives that had gone on before and had conversed with them and was happy. Late in the evening previous to her death she called her parents, brothers and sisters to her bedside, and calling each of them by name bid them goodbye. During the last night on earth, she was in convulsions most of the nie, but during her lucid moments she was rational and knew everything that was passing on. The funeral services were held at the residence Friday afternoon June 14th at 3 p.m. and were conducted by Rev. Punston of the M.E. Church, and the remains laid to rest in the Americus cemetery. The floral decorations were very profused and beautiful and the casket was almost covered with nature’s offerings.
