Description	:	Eddie Slaughter Dodd, 71, died suddenly at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Roseland. A well-known and prominent farmer in the Nelson County community, he was a member and active worker of the Wintergreen Christian Church. Born Oct. 24, 1883, in Nelson County, Mr. Dodd was a son of the late George Washington and Matilda Demastus Dodd. Born Oct. 24, 1883, in Nelson County, Mr. Dodd was a son of the late George Washington and Matilda Demastus Dodd. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Gibson Dodd; the following children by a previous marriage, one son, Melvin Dodd, at home; two daughters, Miss Elizabeth Dodd, at home and Miss Celia Dodd, Charlottesville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. James Lafferty, Waynesboro; one sister, Mrs. Palmer (Nannie) Campbell, Roseland; two step-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home and will be placed in the Wintergreen Christian Church Saturday at 1 p.m. where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Elwood Campbell, assisted by the Rev. John L. McKinney. Interment will be in the Beech Grove Christian Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Arthur Ewing, Paul Coffey, Johnnie Falls, Ray Falls, Pearson Duncan and Luther McGann. Honorary bearers will be Pat Coffey, Elmer Fitzgerald, Ernest Fitzgerald, Russell Falls, Landon Phillips, Charles Martin, John J. Coleman, William Hill, Saylor Fitzgerald, B. C. Small, Irvin Campbell Garnett Ewing, Auldman Campbell, Maphis Campbell, Maxie Campbell.
