Read More	Edith B.(Ferrel) McCullough Peshastin, WA Edith B. (Ferrel) McCullough passed away on April 25, 2013, at the age of 96, in Peshastin, WA. She was born April 27, 1916, on Sheehan Flats, near Waterville, WA to David D. Ferrel and Maud (Hastings) Ferrel, the second youngest of eight children. Edith moved with her family to Medical Lake and several areas around Peshastin and Leavenworth to follow her father's work in farming, logging and the construction of the Cascade Tunnel. She and her siblings attended a one room schoolhouse, which was near the present day Big Y intersection. The Ferrel family was hardworking and thrifty, but there was plenty of love and they always stood strongly by one another, a trait she held all through her life. Edith attended Leavenworth High School in the class of 1934, where she played on the girls Basketball team. In the summer of 1937, she stopped at a bakery on Wenatchee Avenue to visit a friend and caught the eye of a young baker named Claude McCullough. They were wed December of the same year, a marriage that lasted for 71 years. After a short stop in Spokane, they settled in the Seattle area for the next 45 years. Claude worked for Safeway, driving semi-trucks, while Edith was a homemaker, dedicating her time to raising their three children. They made many great friends and enjoyed numerous social outings, such as camping, car trips, and a three week trip to Europe in 1971. She was a talented seamstress, always asked by family and friends to help with special events. The couple moved back to Leavenworth in 1985, to enjoy retirement closer to their family. There they formed many long-lasting friendships and both became active in the Leavenworth Senior Center. Edith became very involved in the Hilfreiche Hausfrauen Club, which raised funds for Cascade Medical Center in Leavenworth. Edith is survived by her younger sister, Grace Moeck of Anchorage, AK; her sons, Kenneth (Sig) McCullough of West Richland, Darrell (Judy) McCullough of Kennewick; her daughter, Cheryl McCullough of Wenatchee; grandchildren, Lani (Jackie Guiliano) McCullough, Shawn (Julie) McCullough, Jason (Brenda) McCullough and Theresa Randolph. She is also survived by her two great-grandchildren, Forrest Smith and Teagan McCullough. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude in 2009; her parents; four brothers, Frank, David, Charles, and Robert Ferrel; and two sisters, Anna Larmier and Ida Wyant. The family would like to thank Carolyn and Gene Sherwood and their family in Peshastin, who opened their warm and loving home to Edith in the last months of her life. A Funeral Service to celebrate the life of Edith McCullough will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Ward's Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. A private family interment will be in the Mt. View Cemetery in Leavenworth. Memorial donations may be made to The Hilfreiche Hausfrauen Club, 125 Benton St, Leavenworth, WA 98826. Ward's Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
