Description	:	Edith May Fellows was born near West Union, Nebraska, on November 28, 1895 to Frank A and Sarah E DeBusk Gorham. She passed away at the Sargent Community Hospital on January 12, 1981 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 15 days. Her parents lived in a sod house west of West Union. She attended school at Union Hill and felt proud to have been the first pupil there to graduate from the eighth grade. Read More	Edith May Fellows was born near West Union, Nebraska, on November 28, 1895 to Frank A and Sarah E DeBusk Gorham. She passed away at the Sargent Community Hospital on January 12, 1981 at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 15 days. Her parents lived in a sod house west of West Union. She attended school at Union Hill and felt proud to have been the first pupil there to graduate from the eighth grade. Her mother died when she was six so her grandmother, Elizabeth DeBusk, helped her father care for her and her younger brother, Harold L Gorham. In later years she kept house for her father and brother and took care of the aging grandmother. On January 29, 1919 she was married to Oliver W Fellows at Broken Bow, Nebraska. They became parents of 7 children. Their little daughter, Olive May, died in infancy; their son, Donald, was killed in WWII and their son, Gerald, passed away in July of 1980. The family lived west of West Union for the first 8 years after their marriage on a farm. Later they bought and moved onto a farm two miles north of Sargent. After her husband died in August 1962, she moved to Sargent where she made her home until her health failed. She spent several weeks recently in the hospital and Sargent Nursing Home. From childhood she attended Sunday School and Church at Walworth and in later years, became an active Sunday School and church member of the Sargent United Methodist Church. For a number of years she was active in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She was member of the Sargent Country Club, WSCS, and Valley Queen Rebekah Lodge No 154. She leaves to mourn her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Clifford Stevens and family of Sargent NE; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Emma Jean Fellows and family of Downey CA; her daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Wayne Buchholz and family of Lexington NE; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Fellows and family of Sargent NE; her son and daughter-in-law, Lyle and Jill Fellows of Omaha Ne; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many relatives and friends. Services were held January 14, 1981 at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent, Rev Robert Frescoln officiated and music was furnished by Louis Smith, soloist and Linda Seifred, organist. Pallbearers were Glen Butler, Emil Ruzicka, Frank Ruzicka, Lee Wells, Floyd Jensen and Alvin Smolik, with interment in the Mt Hope Cemetery, Sargent NE. obit courtesy of Anonymous (#47777321)
