Description	:	Edith Marie Black, 96 years, 11 months, and 21 days of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford), passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Edith was born October 29, 1914 at Beaver City, Nebraska, the 2nd of eight children born to Pearl R. and Mabel A. (Goodwin) Harrold. Edith received her education at Beaver City graduating from Beaver City High School with the class of 1933. She then received her credentials for her teaching certificate. Read More	Edith Marie Black, 96 years, 11 months, and 21 days of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Oxford), passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Edith was born October 29, 1914 at Beaver City, Nebraska, the 2nd of eight children born to Pearl R. and Mabel A. (Goodwin) Harrold. Edith received her education at Beaver City graduating from Beaver City High School with the class of 1933. She then received her credentials for her teaching certificate. Edith taught school for a few years and then following her marriage, she focused on caring for her family. On May 3, 1936 she was united in marriage to Elmer R. Fletcher at the First Christian Church in Beaver City and to this union four children were born: Jean, Rolland, Dale and Roger. The family made their home near Beaver City and later Oxford. Elmer passed away in June 1975. On March 31, 1979, she was united in marriage to James Richard "J.R." Black at the Edison Christian Church in Edison and the couple made their home near Ragan. J.R. passed away in February 1983. Edith was a member of the Edison Christian Church. She enjoyed embroidery, tending to her yard and flower garden, baking and loved to feed and watch birds. She loved to have family gather and would always say, "How's your family?" and "When are we getting together again?" Edith was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands, Elmer and J.R., sister Ruth Brand, brothers, Lloyd Harrold and Paul Harrold, step-daughter, Elizabeth Anne Christensen, step-sons, Claude Black and George Black. Edith leaves to mourn her passing: children: Jean Lewis and her husband, Verlyn of Oxford, Rolland Fletcher and his wife, Sharon of Oxford, Dale Fletcher and his wife, Donna of Arnold, Nebraska, Roger Fletcher and his wife, Joey of Lincoln, Nebraska; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mildred Barker of Morgan Hill, California, Pauline Huff of Loveland, Colorado, Carol Theobald of Beaver City; one brother, Donald Harrold and his wife, Luella of Beaver City; step-son-in-law, Roy Christensen, step-daughters-in-law, Barbara Black and Roma Black and a host of relatives and friends.
