Read More	Edna Ann Van Dusen Dec. 21, 1928 - Oct. 5, 2007 NEW CARLISLE - Edna Ann Van Dusen, 78, of New Carlisle, IN, was found expired on October 5, 2007, along with her husband in their residence. Edna was born on December 21, 1928, in LaPorte, IN, and had resided in the Michiana area her lifetime. On December 29, 1952, in Washington, D.C., as Edna Ann Runnells, she married Paul Van Dusen. Edna is survived by several nieces and nephews, Gaynel Runnels Klimek, June Runnels French, Nancy Runnels Bryant, Rebecca Runnels Jose, Roxanne Runnels, Mary Ann Shankland Holston, James O. Nickerson, H. Paul Runnels and Lawrence Zook; and two sisters-in-law, Eldonna Runnels and Helen Runnels. She is also survived by her three great-great-great-nieces, Haylee and Taylor Shankland, and Madison Shepherd; and by a longtime family friend, Thomas E. Lawson. Edna graduated from New Carlisle High School and attended IUSB. Mrs. Van Dusen worked for many years as head of payroll for the Bendix Corp. until she became treasurer of the New Prairie School Corp. When she retired from the New Prairie School Corp. she started to spend more time in the summers at their cabin on Black Lake in Canada. She was a member of the New Carlisle American Legion Auxiliary #297, Historical Society of New Carlisle, and was a longtime member of the LaPorte Women's Business Association. Mrs. Van Dusen was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Joseph, Harold, Charles and P. Herbert Runnels; and by two sisters, Mary Eleanor Runnels Shankland and Lovisa Runnels Nickerson. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the following: Pet Refuge, Inc., 2300 W. 6th St., Mishawaka, IN; to the Historical Society of New Carlisle; or to the donor's choice. There will be no visitation or services at this time. Cremation has taken place. Burial will take place at Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle, at a later date. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at _West Ireland Road/Indiana 23_, South Bend, handled arrangements and extend its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the relatives of Edna.
