Description	:	Edna Richardson Ewald, 92, of Buena Vista, passed away at her residence on April 13, 2017 while surrounded by family. She was born on July 19, 1924 in Roanoke, and was the daughter of the late Euell and Eulena Richardson. Read More	Edna Richardson Ewald, 92, of Buena Vista, passed away at her residence on April 13, 2017 while surrounded by family. She was born on July 19, 1924 in Roanoke, and was the daughter of the late Euell and Eulena Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry; brothers, Dennis and Cecil Richardson; sisters, Edith Richardson Vaughn, Francis Richardson Chisnell, and Ruth Richardson Saunders; and two special friends, Mary Alice Shuey Rose and Hilda Hypes Decker. She is survived by her children, Sue Ewald of Buena Vista, Jane Ewald Anderson and her husband, Dan, of McDonough, GA, Ann Ewald Chisnell of Waynesboro, William "Skip" Harry Ewald, Jr. of Buena Vista, and Mary "Boo" Ewald Taylor and her husband, Guy, of Bartonville, IL; grandchildren, Jackie Barnes Walter and her husband, Matthew, Jessica Anderson and her fiancé, Dale McCarty, Melissa Bergman and her husband, Richard, Cutter Chisnell, Dianna Taylor Meneses and her husband, Paul, Cyrus Taylor; great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Danielle Bergman; and a number of very special nieces and nephews. Edna was a faithful and active member of the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of Circle #2 and spent her life caring for and serving others. She graduated from Jefferson School of Nursing in Roanoke in 1946 and nursing was her life. Edna first came to the old Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington to begin a career in assisting in surgery. She spent most of her nursing career in obstetrics at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Edna was a caring and loving woman, one who always put others first. She was many things to many people and her family; she was nurturing through thick and thin. Edna was truly an angel of mercy. She helped give birth to many babies and at the same time provided comfort and support to their mothers. Edna and our family wish to thank everyone at hospice who gave strength and support throughout her spiritual transition. We extend a special thank you to Dr. Patricia Schirmer and her staff, and to Sherri Hartless, RN, who lovingly cared for our mother. Graveside services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Buena Vista Presbyterian Church or Rockbridge Hospice. Arrangements are being handled by Bolling, Grose, & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Buena Vista, VA.
