S. Poland. Cold type can but feebly express the sympathy that is craved by husband, sister and brothers in their hour of deep affiction. Less than two years have elapsed since this devoted husband and the wife that has passed to the beautiful beyond stood before the alter as bride and groom and entered into the sacred pledge that were never broken. A home always full of sunshine is left in utter darkness and the devoted young husband can scarce discern a ray of light through the dark clouds. From childhood to womanhood deceased lived to excellent purpose and her untimely death has cast a shadow of gloom over the entire community. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church and her excellent life was ever helpful to society. Death came with little warning. She had been ailing for a week, but her condition was not considered serious until the last three days. Edna E. Poland was born at Pleasant Grove, Minnesota, November 29, 1872. In 1881 she came with her parents to Spirit Lake, which has since been her home. March 20th, 1900, she was united in marriage to E. S. McGrew. Besides the husband, the near relatives who survive are three brothers and one sister: Truman of Oregon, and Edgar E. and William S. Poland. of this place, and Mrs. H. D. Kepner, of Goodell, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted at the M.E. church this afternoon at two o'clock by Dr. E. E. Lymer. *The Spirit Lake Beacon, Nov. 1, 1901
