Thornton, 92, Clay Center, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at a Clay Center hospital. She was born April 22, 1907, in Clay County, to O.F. and Mary Kretz Ahlberg, and spent most of her life in Clay County. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the auxiliary to Dexter Post No. 101 of the American Legion, both in Clay Center. She married Irl J. Thornton on Sept. 22, 1928. He died Oct. 5, 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Audrey Rauch, Miltonvale; a brother, Warren Ahlberg, Clay Center; three grandchildren; and a great- grandson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Clay Center. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Neill- Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or the Clay County Heart Association, both in Clay Center, 67432.
