Description	:	Edna, daughter of David T. and Minnie (Eck) Voth was born near Montezuma, Kansas. In 1939 the family moved to Peabody, Kansas. Edna and her sister Elda moved to Winton and found work. Edna spent her last years in a nursing home in Willows. She died July 28, 2008. Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 17, 2008: Edna Mae Voth Giesbrecht was born on October 18, 1921, in Gray County, Kansas, to David and Minnie Eck Voth. She quietly passed away at Willows, California, on July 28, 2008, at the age of eighty-six years. She received her education at Montezuma, Kansas. Later she moved with her parents to Burns, Kansas. At the age of nineteen, she repented of her sins and was truly converted. Min. David H. Dyck baptized her into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Hillsboro, Kansas. She loved the Lord and His church and was faithful throughout her life. When she was twenty-two years old, she went to Winton, California, to work in the fruit harvest. There she met our father, Abe Giesbrecht. They were married a few weeks later on October 15, 1944, at Burns, Kansas. They shared life together for sixty-one years until Dad died in 2005. What a loving companion and supporter she was to him! Following their marriage, they lived at Winton, California, until 1952, when the family moved to Glenn, California. Here she spent the rest of her life except for a few years at Moundridge Manor, Moundridge, Kansas, and Grace Home, Livingston, California. Mother was a gentle and kind person. She quietly and lovingly gave herself to the needs of her family of three sons and six daughters. She was given to hospitality, and many people remember the delicious Sunday dinners she loved to cook and serve. The law of kindness was in her mouth, and she did not want us to be critical of others. She carefully held to strong convictions and conveyed them to us, her children, with a gentle persuasion. She especially enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren who lived away from Glenn. Her last years were shadowed by Alzheimer's disease, and although she could not communicate with us, we rest in the lively hope that she has gone to be with the Lord. Those left to cherish fond memories are eight children: Vada and husband, Vernon Dyck, Glenn, California; Bernice and husband, Eldon Wenger, Hesston, Kansas; Betty and husband, Dennis Spence, Othello, Washington; Abe and wife, Rose; Howard and wife, Bonita; Bill and wife, Sharon, all of Glenn, California; Jane and husband, Shawn Giesel, Hesston, Kansas; Sharon and husband, Roger Giesbrecht, Othello, Washington; son-in-law, Randal Toews and wife, Roberta, Hythe, Alberta; thirty-four grandchildren and sixty-five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Mildred, Mrs. Arlo Koehn; Erma, Mrs. Ed Schmidt; and Alma, Mrs. James Koehn. Her husband, one daughter, three great-grandchildren, and three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. The funeral was held in the Glenn Mennonite Church, Glenn, California, on July 31, 2008. Officiating ministers were Robert Koehn, David Spence, and Roland Loewen. Burial was in the Willows Cemetery, Willows, California. Obituary submitted by Jcarter (#48847489)
