Description	:	Edna Marie Gillan, died Tuesday, Mar. 18, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 84. Mrs. Gillan was born to Margaret (Maggie) Lunney and Jobst Mehringer in Ruby, Nebraska, December 1, 1891. The family lived in Nebraska and Iowa, in Oklahoma when the Indian territory was open , and in Summit County, Colorado during the Colorado gold rush days. Her mother died of pneumonia in 1900 and was buried in Breckenridge. Edna was taken in by Margaret’s sister, Eliza (Lunney) Linquist. Tragedy struct, when Eliza died of pneumonia in 1902. Mrs. Gillan was born to Margaret (Maggie) Lunney and Jobst Mehringer in Ruby, Nebraska, December 1, 1891. The family lived in Nebraska and Iowa, in Oklahoma when the Indian territory was open , and in Summit County, Colorado during the Colorado gold rush days. Her mother died of pneumonia in 1900 and was buried in Breckenridge. Edna was taken in by Margaret’s sister, Eliza (Lunney) Linquist. Tragedy struct, when Eliza died of pneumonia in 1902. She remained in Breckenridge and then lived friends Mr. and Mrs. Charles Colcord. In 1910, she made her home with Aunt Mary (Lunney) Ackles in Exeter, Nebraska. Edna and Olen were married at the home of Aunt Mary on March 4th, 1913. The Gillan’s moved to Concordia in 1923. Mrs. Gillan was a member of the Presbyterian Church; Chapter AO of P.E.O.; Bushnell Society of the church; Entre Nous Club; Current Events and Research Club; Leah Chapter of Eastern Star; WBA; Garden Club, all of Concordia. Edna will always be remembered by the many times she carried flowers from her garden to decorate the church alter, and many church dinners which she helped to prepare and serve. Surviving are her husband, Olen; two sons, Glen B. and Robert F., Concordia; three daughters, Vi now Mrs. W. Van Alexander of Topeka, Shirley now Mrs. R.T. Anderson of Woodland, Calif., and Lois now Mrs. Jerome Chandler of Sterling; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Opal; and a granddaughter, Carol Jo Gillan. Funeral services will be Saturday morning, March 20, at 10:00 o’clock at Chaput-Buoy funeral home, the Reverend Dr. David W. Seward officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery. On that rainy Saturday before she was in Topeka to visit her daughter and take home some plants. She was the only customer and got the” red carpet treatment” and grand tour of the greenhouses.
