Obituary: Edward Allen Mattingly, 74, of Merriam, owner of the Mattingly Insurance & Real Estate Co.,died March 21, 1975 at Shawnee Mission Hospital. He had lived in that area 43 years. The son of Edward Stephen and Lillie Mae Mattingly he was born July 27,1900 in Eureka. He was married to Helen Opal Ward of Quincy on August 11, 1928 He was a member of the Old Mission United Methodist Church. He was a Mason, and was a member of the Johnson County Water District Board for 42 years, served on the Merriam city council from 1953 to 1957 and as Mayor of Merriam from 1957 to 1961. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies at Fort Scott, Nova Chaper of the Order of the Eastern Star, Overland Park, the White Shrine of Merriam and the True Kindred Conclave, Shawnee. Survivors include his wife, Helen of the home; a brother Arthur C. and a sister, Mrs. Earle (Vessie) Huston, both of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services were held March 25 at the Hoge Chapel, Overland Park, with Interment in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Masonic Services were held March 24 in the chapel.
