Description	:	Lillie May Flummer was born August 9, 1874, in Vanceburg, Lewis County, Kentucky, the daughter of Allen Alexander and Louisa Mae (Gamble) Flummer. She was oldest of 5 girls and 3 boys. Lillie married Edward Stephen "ed" Mattingly on December 1, 1896, in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. Ed was born September 15, 1871, near Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky, the son of Richard and Anna Eliza (Valentine) Mattingly. Read More	Lillie May Flummer was born August 9, 1874, in Vanceburg, Lewis County, Kentucky, the daughter of Allen Alexander and Louisa Mae (Gamble) Flummer. She was oldest of 5 girls and 3 boys. Lillie married Edward Stephen "ed" Mattingly on December 1, 1896, in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. Ed was born September 15, 1871, near Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky, the son of Richard and Anna Eliza (Valentine) Mattingly. Even though Mason and Lewis County Kentucky are neighboring, Lillie and Ed never met until both of their families settled in Eureka, Kansas. Ed and Lillie had the following children: 1. Edward Allen Mattingly (1900-1975) 2. Arthur Calvin Mattingly (1905-1993) 3. Vessie Louisa (Mattingly) Huston (1909-2001 Ed and Lillie eventually moved to Neal, Kansas about 9 miles east of Eureka where Ed owned several business including the lumber yard until it was destroyed by the cyclone. Lillie offered board to school teachers and sold her eggs and butter. She and Ed lived in Neal until her death on Jun 19, 1951, in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. Ed lived on in the big house they had built in Neal for a years and then made his home moving around between his children. Ed died April 17, 1964, in Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. MRS. E. S. MATTINGLY TAKEN IN DEATH Lillie May, daughter of Louisa A. and Allen A. Flummer, was born in Lewis County, Kentucky, August 9, 1874 and departed from this life June 19, 1951 at the Basham Hospital. She was united in marriage to Edward S. Mattingly on December 1, 1896 at the Christian church in Eureka, Kansas, where she is a member. To them were born three children, Edward A., Artur C., and Vessie Lou. She had lived in Greenwood county since 1884 and at Neal, Kansas since February, 1912. Their golden wedding anniversary was celebrated December 1, 1946. She is survived by her husband of the home; a daughter, Vessie Louise Huston, Wichita; two sons, Edward Allen Mattingly of Merriam, Kansas and Arthur Calvin Mattingly of Denver, Colorado, four grandchildren, George Arthur and Helen Louise Mattingly of Eureka and Mary Ann and Earla Sue Huston of Wichita; three brothers, Oscar Flummer of Eureka, Myron Flummer of Wichita and DeWitt Flummer of Muldraugh, Kentucky; two sisters, Edna Ciedeberg of Stockton, California and Minnetta Croft of Lawton, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters and her father and mother preceded her in death. Funeral service was held form the Baird Funeral Home Thursday, June 21, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. George E. Brown officiating, Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
