Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 3, at Zion Lutheran Church in New Salem, ND, with Rev. Russell Fitch and Rev. Les Wolfgram officiating. Ed was born February 28, 1922, in Center, ND, the son of Alexander and Lena (Skubinna) Sorge. He grew up on the family farm and attended Square Butte Country School near Center, ND. On April 26, 1942, he married Irma Reuther in Bremen, ND. He worked on the home farm until 1945, when they moved to St. Paul briefly, and then returned and purchased a farm near Judson, ND. In 1950, Ed went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad, where he was a section laborer, foreman, and machine operator. He retired in 1983. In 2002, Ed and Irma moved to Bismarck, and they entered Elm Crest Manor in 2010. Ed was member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, where he was active in L.L.L. and served as a church officer for many years. While living in Bismarck, Ed was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Edward is survived by his wife, Irma, New Salem; daughter, Carol (LeRoy) Heinle, Augusta, MT; sons, Edward (Darlene) Sorge, Wheatland, WY, Norman (Clair) Sorge, Bismarck, and Ray (Lorraine) Sorge, Beulah; sister, Emma Schwalbe, Mandan; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Fay Cofield; two brothers, Walter and Rudolph Sorge; and one sister, Ida Ross.
