Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem, with the Revs. Russell Fitch and Les Wolfgram officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, New Salem. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Elm Crest Manor, New Salem, where a prayer service will begin at 11 a.m. Irma was born April 7, 1921, in Center, the daughter of Paul and Martha (Hoger) Reuther. She was raised and educated at a rural school near Center. Irma went to work for a family in Mandan as a caretaker and housekeeper. She married Edward Sorge on April 26, 1942. Irma and Edward moved briefly to St. Paul, Minn., and returned home and purchased a farm near Judson. In 2002, Irma and Ed moved to Bismarck, and they entered Elm Crest Manor in 2010. Irma was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Salem; she was active in LWML, taught Sunday School, and was a member of a homemaker’s club. While living in Bismarck, Irma was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. Irma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, and especially the times spent with her grandchildren teaching them songs and playing endless games. Irma is survived by her daughter, Carol (LeRoy) Heinle, Augusta Mont.; her sons, Edward (Darlene) Sorge, Wheatland, Wyo., Norman (Clair) Sorge, Bismarck, and Ray (Lorraine) Sorge, Beulah; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Otto Reuther, New Salem; two sisters, Hella Keller, Bismarck, and Shirley (Willie) Davis, Lino Lakes, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, LaVerne Reuther, Missoula, Mont., and Verna Reuther, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her daughter, Fay Cofield; her brothers, Walter, Arnold, Ervin and Herbert Reuther; and sister, Wilma Held. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
