Edward Christen, 78, Lima business man and president of the Christen Bottling Works, died at his home, 618 E. Market-st, Saturday evening, from complications. Edward Christen, 78, Lima business man and president of the Christen Bottling Works, died at his home, 618 E. Market-st, Saturday evening, from complications. He had been ill for some time and had been gradually growing weaker but his death came as a shock to friends and relatives. Christen was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and came to Lima when a young man, where he started his business career. He had been a resident of Lima for 41 years. He started the Christen Bottling Works, of which he was president, was a director of the First National Bank and also of the South Side Building & Loan association and was vice president of the Crystal Ice & Coal Co. He was a member of the Lima Lodge 54 BPOE, a charter member of the Board of the City Hospital, a Knight of Columbus and a devout member of St. John's Catholic church. He is survived by his widow and four children, Mrs. M. C. Bolger, Leo L. Christen, Ray Christen and E. G. Christen; also by one sister, Mrs. Catherine Metz, of Chicago, and by 11 grandchildren.
