Read More	You could say that Edward Clifford Hayden couldn't wait to start his life adventure. He entered the world on Sept. 24, 1941 while on the way from Goldendale to the hospital in Yakima in a taxi that had to pull over next to a creek bed. Though it was an unusual place to be born, parents Hazel (Haley) and Clifford Hayden were overjoyed with the arrival of their new son. He grew up, graduated from high school in Goldendale and served in the United States Army from 1962-1968. He was stationed in Hamburg, Germany and told many stories of his time there, including standing guard on the Berlin Wall. Edward went to trade school to become an electrician and plumber. He worked on the pipe line throughout the Mid-West and Alaska. He then returned home to Goldendale to work for himself for many years. He never turned anyone away that needed help, and would often accept trade for his work even if it meant that he sometimes did without. In 1999 he went to work for T.L.C. building modular homes until he retired in June of 2010. On Sept. 8, 1978, he married his beloved wife Utha "Reah" Simpson in Woodland. Edward was interested in many things including spending time with his wife and family, genealogy, gardening and bluegrass music. He loved nature and enjoyed camping, fishing and was a rock hound. He was also a very devoted member of the American Legion Post 116; was inducted into the 40/8 in 1990; volunteered to do just about everything and the last few years was a member of the executive board. He passed away in The Dalles, on March 19, 2011 at the age of 69. Survivors include his wife Utha Reah Hayden of Goldendale; daughters Kathy Kujava of Salem, Ore ., Wanda Miller of Goldendale, Janice Frisk of Bickleton, Lori Marak of Colorado, Donna "Shelly" Spires, Karen Blankenship and Judith "Dawny" Lippard all of Arizona; brother Robert Hayden of Goldendale; sisters Annabelle Fleming and Jeaunnette Bussler both of Omak, and Virginia Rainey of Florida; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandchild James Spires, brother George Hayden, and sisters Barbara, Grace, Clara and Margie. A graveside service was held March 24, at Mt. View Cemetery in Goldendale. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel handled arrangements.
