Description	:	Edward Dempsey and his first wife, Jane Hay, had five children born in County Antrim and baptised at the First Kilrea Presbyterian Church in County Derry. (Noted on RootsIreland.ie) 5 July 1832 the Montreal Emigrant Society sponsored the family's passage to Prescott, Ontario, to help populate the Canadian Territories. The family settled in Oxford Township, Grenville County, where Edward continued as a weaver. According to Dempsey family history and the Family Bible kept by Edward's granddaughter Jane Carmichael, he was widowed twice and remarried a Janet Christie and a Sarah.
