Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Steele, with the Rev. Paul Tjostem officiating. Burial will be in Dawson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eastgate Steele Chapel. Edward was born Nov. 20, 1916, in Wishek, the son of Jacob and Christina (Krien) Gunsch. He was raised in Wishek and farmed with his father until he and his brother, Ervin, left to work near Billings, Mont., in the chrome mines. In 1943, he was drafted into the Army at Butte, Mont. Edward served in the Army during World War II in France, Belgium and Germany for three years before he returned home and moved to a farm south of Dawson, near Lake Isabelle. It was there that he met and married Pearl Hansen, of Steele, daughter of Alice and Ben Hansen. Edward and Pearl had four children, Gloria, Darrel, Lenny and Mark. In 1957, he started working for Kidder County as a heavy equipment operator. He retired after 29 years due to health problems. Edward leaves his wife of 60 years, Pearl, Dawson; his daughter, Gloria, Dawson; his sons, Darrel, Bismarck, and Lenny, Las Vegas; his sisters, Alma Kemmet, Dawson, Leah Randall, Billings, Irene Wise, Bismarck, Anna Mittleider, Steele, Hilda Jahner, Linton, and Eleanor Johnson, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Troy Gunsch, Bismarck, Tawnya Gunsch, Fargo, and Krista Berry, Glendive, Montana; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark; his brothers, Ervin, Clarence, Elmer and Benny; and his sisters, Lydia Wise and Ella Lewis. =============================
