Description	:	Edward Huggins passed away of natural causes. Ed was the fourth of 12 children, born in Columbia Falls, to Homer and Agnes Huggins. Ed attended grade school in Columbia Falls and in 1936 joined the C.C.C.'s. He was stationed at the Remount Camp at Ninemile and the Bigfork Camp. Ed was discharged from the C.C.C.'s in 1939. He returned to Columbia Falls where he married Susannah Grigg in 1940. Ed and Susie moved to Troy where Ed worked for the J. Neils Lumber Co. In 1944, Ed moved his family to Kalispell and he worked on the Hungry Horse Dam Project. In 1950, Ed went to work for Bud Lake driving truck and working at Bud's slaughter house. In 1952, he moved his young family to Missoula where he drove truck for Bud Lake and Howard Raser. Ed also drove logging trucks for a few years and worked for Oral Zumwalt hauling Brahma bulls to rodeos around the state of Montana. In 1961, Ed started driving for Garrett Freight Lines where he drove thousands of accident free miles and earned the nickname "Fast Eddy." At age 62, Ed retired from Garrett after a 21-year career. Ed loved horses and over the years bred and raised registered quarter horses. He named many of the mares after his wife Susie. He was a familiar face at horse sales, horse shows and cow cutting events throughout the state. Ed also loved to watch sports and enjoyed watching his two sons participate in high school and college sports. Ed was a jack-of-all-trades and there wasn't any task or project he was afraid to take on. Preceding him in death were his parents; five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Susannah; children, Carol (Bill) Thomas in Missoula, grandson Patrick (Marcia) Thomas in Dillon and granddaughter Lisa Thomas and great-grandchildren Jessica and Jacob Redler in Missoula; son Russell (Karen) Huggins in Reno, Nev.; son Larry (Kilt) Huggins in Missoula, grandson Bret (Gina) Huggins, great-grandchildren Cooper and Hudson in Gypsum, Colo.; sister Helen Romeo of Seattle; sister Millie Louise and brother Dennis Huggins in Lakeview, Calif., and sister Carol Huggins in Missoula. Ed did not want a funeral. He was cremated and his ashes were buried at the Huggins family plots in the Fairview Cemetery, Columbia Falls.
