Read More	Martin Logan Huggins, 87, passed away Nov. 9, 2002, at the Hillside Manor in Missoula. He was born Feb. 14, 1915, at the family home in the Bad Rock area near Columbia Falls to Homer Hudson Huggins and Agnes M."Nanny" (Radabah) Huggins. Martin was the oldest of 14 brothers and sisters. He attended grade school at Bad Rock School and graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1933. As a young man he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and manned the lookout at Cyclone Peak in the North Fork area of Flathead County. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed in Missoula. In 1935 he enrolled at the University of Montana to study forestry. There he met Hazel Veronica Taylor. They were married in 1937 and moved to Walla Walla, Wash. He worked for Safeway and later the U.S. Postal Service. Sons James and Michael and daughter Patricia were born in Walla Walla. In 1946, the family moved to Kalispell. Martin worked on the Hungry Horse Dam project before going back to the post office. He retired from the post office in 1975 . Martin was a lifelong sports fan. He coached Babe Ruth baseball and city league basketball. He kept meticulous records of the Flathead High School athletic teams. He served on the selection committee for the Koford Award for several years. Martin was a fixture at football and basketball games and track meets until strokes made it difficult for him to attend these events. He was a man of integrity who believed in putting forth your best effort in all that you do. His greatest pride was in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. All that knew him will miss him. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel; son, James M. Huggins and his wife Cheryl, of Olympia, Wash.; son, Michael D. Huggins and his wife Peggy, of Los Angeles; daughter, Patricia A. Dwight and her husband Paul, of Missoula; and adopted son, David A. Graham of La Jolla, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Martin is also survived by sisters, Helen Romeo, Millie Louise and Carol Huggins; and brothers, Ed, Bill, Bob and Dennis Huggins. A service honoring Martin's life will be held at a later date. If you wish to remember Martin, a donation in his name to the Glacier Park Foundation or Flathead High School would be a fitting tribute. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Livingston-Malletta and Geraghty Funeral Home in Missoula. Martin's remains will be interred at the Fairview Cemetery near Columbia Falls.
