Hall and Helen (Schumacher) Hall and passed away on June 1, 2002 at the age of 60 years, two months and six days. The family moved from Belleville to Fairmont a year later. Read More	Edward Maurice Hall was born March 26, 1942, in Belleville, Kan., to Raymond M. Hall and Helen (Schumacher) Hall and passed away on June 1, 2002 at the age of 60 years, two months and six days. The family moved from Belleville to Fairmont a year later. During his youth, he worked at the Standard Gas Station owned by his father. He graduated from Fiarmont High School in 1960. After high school, he joined the Army where he served overseas duty in Korea. After returning to the states, he moved to Lincoln where he took a vice-president position with States Securities. On April 28, 1967, he was joined in marriage for 25 years to Bonnie Jean Doehring. To this union three daughters were born, Rebecca Sue, Echelle Maxie and Heidi Lynette. In the summer of 1972, the family relocated to Fairbury and Ed worked at the Fairbury State Bank as loan officer and vice president. he helped many people in the community fulfill their dreams. After 25 years in the banking business, he retired. During his lifetime he was a long-time member of many organizations including the Elks, Eagles, Optimist, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, VFW, ABATE Club, r-H Extension, City Council, Blue Valley Beef Review, Ducks Unlimited, SCSA, SCC Boosters, Jeff Boosters, and was a ruling Elder at the Fairbury Presbyterian Church. He often held an office or title with most of these organizations. He was also a member of the Fairmont American Legion Post No. 21. Ed also filled his life with sports and hobbies including many bowling leagues, city and church softball leagues, golf, horseshoe throwing, dart league, pool league, city league basketball and fishing. Ed also enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He spent many hours in the fields on a tractor at his in-laws, Norval and Josephine Doehring's farm. After retirement from the bank, Ed took on many other jobs he enjoyed, Swingsters, painting, and assistant manager at the Capri Motel. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother and niece, Sarah Nun. Survivors include his daughters, Becky and husband Tony Hobson of Hastings, Shelly Hall and her fiancee, David Linder of Bellevue, Heidi and husband, Carson Cobb of Benkelman; grandchildren, Samantha and Cash Hobson, Daysha Hall and Kelsey and Hayden Cobb; his siblings, Barb and Dick Smith of Fairmont, Dick and Nancy Hall of Wymore, Pat and Larry Dow of Overland Park, Kan., Kathy and Clarence Nun of Geneva, Mary and Jim Brandt of Missouri Valley, Iowa; his special friend, Chris Lange of Fairbury and her children, Nicki and Chad Chrastil and Lacy Lange; grandchildren, Mikala Chrastil and several special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many friends. Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 6, at 10 a.m., at the Gerdes-Meyer Chapel in Fairbury, with Pastor Bill Jardine officiating. Special music was The Statler Brothers, "How Great Thou Art," "The Lord's Prayer," and " The King is Coming." Honorary pallbearers were Carson Cobb, Tony Hobson, Howard Lender and Chad Chrastil. Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery in Fairmont with military rites at the graveside.
