Read More	NUN, KATHRYN ELIZABETH—Kathryn Elizabeth (Hall) Nun was born to Raymond M. Hall and Helen Marie (Schumacher) Hall, on November 21, 1951, in Geneva and passed away on June 6, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 16 days. She was one of six children in the family. Kathy was baptized and attended Sunday school at Fairmont United Methodist Church. As a child she enjoyed riding her bike, making mud pies with her sisters and playing Monopoly marathons with her sister, Mary. She could also be found babysitting her sister Barb’s children. While in high school, she participated in pep club. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1969. Following graduation, she attended Lincoln Technical College of Nursing where she received her LPN nursing license. She worked for Dr. Charles Ashby for many years. On October 29, 1971, Kathy married Clarence A. Nun Jr., at the United Methodist Church in Geneva. In November of 1972, they moved to the family farm in Chelsea Township where Clarence was raised. To this union five children were born, Thomas Raymond in 1972, Christopher Clarence in 1976, Bryan Anthony in 1977, Emilye Elizabeth in 1982, and Saran Elizabeth in 1989. While her children were young, Kathy worked at Jeans North Clothing store where she enjoyed visiting with all the customers. She also helped out in the office at Sekam Feeds. She spent many hours at the Chelsea Cemetery, mowing with Sharon, while the children played on a blanket under the trees. She then spent the rest of her life raising her children and grandchildren. While her children were growing up, she attended many baseball and softball games and even helped coach the girls’ softball teams. Kathy helped prepare the 4-H and FFA animals for the fair, as well as other fair projects. She never missed an event of their children. Kathy was known as a mom to many. She was always willing to feed the many friends of her children that would frequently and unexpectedly show up. Kathy always had a large garden that she shared with her children and freezing sweet corn was a family event. Many laughs were shared when it came time to butcher chickens and you could find them cooling off in the family bathtub. Kathy was a great help to Clarence around their family farm. She could usually be found in the fall, driving the tractor and grain cart until the boys were old enough to help out. Kathy always enjoyed talking on the phone with many family and friends. Some even received daily phone calls from her, just so she could check up on them. A recent activity that Kathy enjoyed was attending performances at Pioneers Park. She also enjoyed traveling, many times to see Emilye and Christopher in Montana or her sisters in Iowa and Kansas. She was famous for trying to find the “perfect” gift for someone, even if it meant dragging Clarence to numerous stores and towns all year long. She wasn’t worried about returning a lot of things, just so she could make sure the gifts were just right. Her six grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was always available and never turned down a chance to babysit. Many hours were spent rocking them to sleep, sitting on the floor playing with toys and numerous card or board games. Kathy would commonly be found with the cartoon channel on, even if no grandchildren were around. She arranged many slumber parties at grandma and grandpa’s house. They also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to the movie theater and to the IMAX. The grandchildren and grandma enjoyed taking snacks to grandpa in the field, so they could ride in the combine or tractor. They also spent many hours dragging grandma and grandpa outside to see the new baby calves, kittens and chicks. The baby animals were a favorite of all on the family farm. Grandma Kathy was always seen at the grandchildren’s activities which included baseball, soccer, 4-H, dance and school programs. She was very excited to find out another granddaughter was due in October. Kathy also had a special relationship with her nephew, Jacob Brandt. She enjoyed attending his school programs and athletic events. Kathy was a member of the Fairmont Legion Auxiliary, United Methodist Women’s Circle, Chelsea Women’s club and the Geneva Grange. Following the death of her daughter, Sarah, in 2000, Kathy and Clarence became active members of The Compassionate Friends Chapter that met in Geneva monthly and for the past seven years has served as a leader. She always looked forward to attending the Compassionate Friends conferences at both the state and national level. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah; parents, Raymond and Helen Hall, step-mother Audrey Hall; mother-and father-in-law, Clarence Sr., and Florence Nun; grandparents, Wilamenia and Arthur Schumacher and Elizabeth and Jasper Hall; brother, Ed Hall, and brother-in-law, Dick Smith. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Jr.; sons, Tom and wife Ann and son Garrett; Chris, wife Kelly and children, Dakota, Blake and Caleb; Bryan, wife Katy and children Wyatt and Austyn; and daughter Emilye and husband Christopher Reetz; sisters, Barb Smith, Pat and husband Larry Dow; Mary and husband Jim Brandt; and brother, Dick and wife Nancy Hall, as well as many nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Funeral services were held on June 11 at the United Methodist Church in Geneva with Pastor Ron Harris officiating. Sondra Myers accompanied Delwin Myers in the singing of “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Hymn of Promise.” The recorded selection of “Amazing Grace” was played as the recessional. Pallbearers for the service included Andrew Hinrichs, Josh Stanek, Jerry Fixemer, Dave Elznic, Jeff Hollis and Josh Saatmann. Honorary bearers included Wyatt, Dakota, Blake, Garrett, Austyn and Caleb Nun; and Jacob Brandt. Interment was held in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal June 20th, 2012 page 10.
