Description	:	Ed Schultz, who lives southeast of Crete, was delightfully surprised Saturday night when a number of his relatives and neighbors called to celebrate his thirty-first birthday. The celebration was not only prompted because of Ed's birthday but was very much in order from the fact that he and his family had just that day moved into their fine new home. The new home, which was erected by contractor Kerst of this city, is one of the finest in that part of the country, and Mr. and Mrs. Schultz may well feel proud of the same. The celebration was not only prompted because of Ed's birthday but was very much in order from the fact that he and his family had just that day moved into their fine new home. The new home, which was erected by contractor Kerst of this city, is one of the finest in that part of the country, and Mr. and Mrs. Schultz may well feel proud of the same. Ed was strutting around appreciating the beauties and comforts of his new home when the fun makers arrived in a body and surprised him completely. They were heartily received, and a program of pleasures started that continued until a late hour. It was sure a fine housewarming and an honor to Ed's birthday and an occasion he will ever remember. Source: The Crete News, November 23, 1911 ********************** Funeral services for Edward Schultz, Sr., were held at the Kramer Lutheran Church Friday afternoon with Rev. W.M. Pebler officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery near the church. The deceased was a life-long resident of the Kramer neighborhood, having been born there on November 18, 1880. He was baptized by Rev. Ludwig Huber on December 25, 1880. On April 1, 1894 he was confirmed by the Rev. G. Lohr. He was united in marriage with Miss Emma Henning on December 19, 1901 by Rev. Lohr. Since a year after their marriage, they lived on the farm just east of the church. Their union was blessed with two sons, Alfred of Bremerton, Washington and Edward of near Kramer. They survive with their mother. The deceased leaves six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two brothers, August and William, both of Crete; five sisters, Mrs. Henry Henning, Kramer; Mrs. Carl Mundt, Crete; Mrs. Ben Busboom, Crete; Mrs. Fred Meinke, Kramer; and Mrs. John Huber, Selden, Kansas. Two sisters preceded the departed. Edward Schultz, Sr. passed away at a Lincoln hospital on August 24 at the age of 67 years, nine months, and six days.
