Edwin Charles Douthit was born June 10, 1933 in Horace, Nebraska to Ellis and Cecelia (Fredrick) Douthit. He received his education from Scotia High School, graduating in 1950. On November 11, 1950 he was united in marriage to Shirley Morrow in Elba, Nebraska. Edwin was employed by GTE where he worked as the District Construction Supervisor of 20 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and attending the farmers market on Saturdays. Edwin was an endowment member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Kearney; sons, Michael Douthit of Kearney, Jerry Douthit and wife, Sue of Berthoud, CO; former daughter-in-law, Deborah Douthit of Lincoln; grandchildren, Shawn Novacek, Harleena (Michael) Vosasek, Douglas (Rebecca) Douthit, Sheri (Robert) Birdwell, Alan (Jodie) Douthit; 7 great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Tuma of Columbus, NE and Verneda (Rodney) Renken of North Platte. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and two sisters.
