Description	:	Edwin Carl Buser, 83, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Stormont- Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Ed was born on February 25, 1925, in Baker, Kansas, the son of Carl and Elizabeth (Hossfeld) Buser. He graduated from Willis High School in 1942. Read More	Edwin Carl Buser, 83, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Stormont- Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. Ed was born on February 25, 1925, in Baker, Kansas, the son of Carl and Elizabeth (Hossfeld) Buser. He graduated from Willis High School in 1942. Ed served overseas in the U.S. Army after World War II and was honorably discharged in 1947. He farmed for 42 years and raised cattle with his brother, Ernie, until he retired. Ed served as the mayor of Horton from 1991 to 1995. He also served on the Horton Community Hospital Board, USD 377 School Board, Atchison County Livestock Board and Farmer's Co-op Board. He was a former 4-H club leader and member of the Hiawatha Elk's Club, American Legion and Horton Lakeview Country Club. Ed was united in marriage to Gerva Dean Banaka on August 15, 1948, in Whiting, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Shari Myers, of Cummings, Kansas; son, Greg, and his wife, Becky, of Hiawatha, Kansas; three grandsons, Jeradon Myers and his wife, Audrey, of Cummings, Kansas; Andy and Curtis Buser, both of Hiawatha, Kansas; two granddaughters, Jenalea and Jillissa Myers, both of Cummings, Kansas; one great grandson, Brian Nelson, of Holton, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Joyce Buser, of Horton, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fred, Bob and Ernie Buser; two sisters, Helen Greer and Martha Coulter; and a grandson, Joshuane Myers. During his youth, Ed was an avid baseball player and bowler. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's athletic events. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Burial will be at the Netawaka Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Edwin Buser Memorial Fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
