Read More	Edwin Dresser Costello July 28, 1924-May 17, 2014 Resident of Palo Alto Edwin Dresser Costello, 89, died on May 17, 2014 in Palo Alto, CA. after several months of declining health. Ted, as he was known to family and friends was born in San Francisco, CA. on July 28, 1924. He graduated from St. Ignatius H.S. and after one semester at USF joined the U.S. Army Air Corp in WWII. Ted was a combat veteran who ended WWII by serving as the lead bombardier on the last heavy bomber mission of the war against the German controlled Skoda Tank Works in Pilson, Czechoslovakia. During the war he met his true love Barbara to whom he was married for nearly 60 years until her death in 2007. After the war he attended Stanford University where he earned both a BA and an MBA from Stanford's graduate school of business. A proud Stanford Alumni he served in several offices of the Business School Alumni Association including President and Treasurer. Following college Ted worked in local industry including Varian before finding his niche as a financial research analyst starting in the mid 1960's. He became the first analyst to cover companies that became Silicon Valley. These included Apple, Intel and Seagate. In the 1980s he achieved the rare distinction of appearing more than once on PBS Wall St. Week show. He also was a founding member of Alpine Hills Tennis and Swimming Club in Portola Valley. Ted is survived by his sister Ellie Knight, his son Gordon Costello, and his beloved grand daughters Rebecca and Rain. Services will be held on May 12, 2014 at 1:30PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 22555 Cristo Rey Dr., Los Altos. Published in San Jose Mercury News/San Mateo County Times on May 22, 2014.
