McKinney, 88, pioneer resident of Hand county,were held Friday, Jan. 29 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tyra Talley officiating. He died at Hand County Memorial Hospital Jan. 26, following a brief illness. McKinney was born Nov. 10, 1876, at Canton, Ill., the son of Nelson an Elilzabeth McKinney. He died at Hand County Memorial Hospital Jan. 26, following a brief illness. McKinney was born Nov. 10, 1876, at Canton, Ill., the son of Nelson an Elilzabeth McKinney. He came to Hand county with his family at the age of ten years and they homesteaded south of Miller. He was married to Maude Ree Hubbard, the first white child born in Hand county, Oct. 28, 1903. they continued to live on the homestead in Glendale township until 1942 when they moved to Miller. They were the parents of two daughters. Mrs. McKinney died in August of 1952 and he went at this time to live with his daughter, Mrs. Earl Taylor, in Mondamin township. In June, 1962, he wet to live at Prairie Center, one of the first residents of the home. He became ill and entered the hospital Jan. 15, the first time he had ever been a hospital patient. He had been a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1920 and had served as Glendale Township Clerk and school clerk for many years. He is survived by his two daughters, Mrs. Jack Campbell (Blanche), Renton, Wash., and Mrs. Earl Taylor (Fern), five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs.W.H. Arbogast (Grace).
