Read More	RITES HELD LAST WEDNESDAY FOR EDWIN HILLRICHS Community Shocked By Sudden Death Of Preston Farmer The entire community was shocks at the sudden death of Edwin Hillrichs at about 8:00 o'clock Sunday evening, September 18, 1949. He had seemed to be in the best of health Sunday, when he took his daughter and neighbor children to Sunday school. After returning home, he and his family came to Akron to spend the day and evening with his father, Henry Hillrichs, Sr. A short time after supper, which he enjoyed with his family, he laid down with his little daughter. At that time he was stricken with a heart attack and passed away just a few minutes later. Dr. Kerr was called, but nothing could be done for him. Edwin was born on the farm where he resided at the time of his death in Preston township, nine miles northeast of Akron. He spent his entire life there, and attained the age of 39 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of Preston Township. On November 17, 1938, he was united in marriage with Mabel Friske to this happy couple three children were born Joann, ten; Darlis four and Gary, three years old. Eddie, as he was familiarly known will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, son and brother, a kind and helpful friend and neighbor, and an upright, industrious citizen. He will be greatly missed by all. Left to mourn his untimely departure, besides his wife and three children, are his aged father, Henry Hillrichs, Sr.; three sisters, Mrs. Wm Barinsky, Mrs. John Peters, Mrs. Andrew Andersen; five brothers, Henry, Jr.; John,. Fred, Ben and Harry, all of Akron vicinity.; also, a number of nephews and nieces. His mother preceded him in death April 14, 1941. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon of last, week, from his farm home and at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hawarden, where he had been a member for the past four years, the services being conducted by Rev. H. E. Sieving, the pastor. A quartet, composed of Mrs. J. Treiber, Mrs. Helmuth Schneider, Mrs. Kenneth Green and Miss Phyllis Hogand, sang "Be Still, My Soul," and Jerusalem, Thou City Pair." Interment was in Riverside cemetery, Akron. There was a large attendance at the funeral services, mourners attending from the Le Mars, Kingsley, Moville, Sioux City, Hartley and Akron communities. Many memorials were given in his memory by his friends for New Trinity Lutheran Church and the Good Shepherd Hour from the Ladies' Aid.
