Her great aunt Leticia Baughman Hawthorne assisted with the delivery. Effie died on her 90th birthday. Effie and C. H. Hultquist had one child - Leroy. Effie in 1906 and 1907 for about 4 months was married to Charles Talbert. They lived in the large 1887 Talbert house one mile west of Trumbull. In 2012 it still looks quite original. Buffalo, N.Y. xxxxx Effie's brother Wayne Hawthorne in the early 1900s lived west of Venango, Nebraska. Actually Venango is in Perkins Co. and is one mile east of the Colorado border. Wayne lived just a little into Colorado. In 1910 Effie moved to Perkins County to teach. She lived with the Barnard family who must have lived near Madrid or between Madrid and Grant. In the 1910 census Effie Talbert, Perkins Co., is listed as a teacher. In 1912 and probably 1911 Effie was back in the Trumbull area teaching east of Trumbull at the school across the corner from her fathers cousin John Hawthorne. If the weather was a little bad she stayed at the John Hawthorne home. xxxxx Adams County Democrat 19 September 1913 Trumbull - Harry Hulquist and Effie Talbert were united in marriage Sunday eve at the [Rev. Cope - Methodist] parsonage. They have gone on a trip to Denver. [Also about a month before their marriage they had the worst fight of their married life. The church had an ice cream social and Effie was to serve for awhile and then Harry was to come and get her for ice cream and socializing. Well Harry got to talking and forgot to get Effie. By the time he remembered the ice cream was gone and Effie was not in a very good mood.] Adams County Democrat 12 September 1913 An ice cream social will be held at the Wesley Hall [old church]Friday night. xxxxx The Hultquist second auto was a 1917 Model T Ford. The following is about the lights on their 1917 Model T Ford (Effie) OH, yes I do remember, now as we'd go fast we had a better light. And when we would go slow then the light would be dim. So that made it hard when we really needed a good light, you'd have to slow up. And then you would have kind of a dim - . (Effie) But I remember that one of our early cars that we did have trouble that way. When we would come to a bad place in the road - (Jack) Yeah, you'd have to slow up and the light would go dim on you. (Effie) Yes.
