He had been in failing health six months from a heart ailment and stroke of paralysis, and the last four months he was bedfast in the Stout Nursing Home, where he died at 8:20 o'clock in the morning. His age was 67 years, 4 months and 6 days. Eilert, son of Gerd and Johanna Ross, was born Nov. 24, 1886 near Bremen, Germany. When he was eight years old the family moved to the United States and came to live on a farm near Sterling, Nebr., in 1894. On Febr. 22, 1911 he married Nettie Kruger at Sterling. Rev. E.J. Schroeder officiated at their wedding. For a number of years they lived in this community then in 1929 they moved on a farm near Walton and later near Eagle. They retired from the farm in 1941 and located in Lincoln, where he was employed for awhile at Union college and later was a guard at the state penitentiary. In 1927 he was confirmed in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church in Sterling by Rev. Julius H. Moehl, and in 1929 became a member of Grace Lutheran church at Walton, where he had retained membership ever since. Mr. Ross was a man who was devoted to his family and whose pleasant ways brought him a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ross and four survive their parents. They are Henry G. Ross and Laurence W. Ross, Lincoln; Mrs. Marjorie Zenefski, Neenah, Wis., and Leroy Ross, Lincoln. Besides his children he also leaves three brothers and one sister, Fred, George and John of Lincoln, and Mrs. Anna Mohrhoff of Adams. Funeral services were held at 1:30 Friday afternoon, April 2, in Grace Lutheran church at Walton, with Rev. Foster Cress in charge. Clarence Jansson of Lincoln sang, accompanied by Mrs. Jansson. Pallbearers were John and Edwin Mohrhoff, Arlin and Raymond Ross, Everett and Wallace Kruger. Burial was here in St. John's Lutheran cemetery. Sympathy of many friends is with the bereaved ones as they mourn the death of their loved one.
