Description	:	Eldon Sintek, 95, of North Loup passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at the North Loup United Methodist Church. Reverend Toni Nolze will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Scotia. Military Honors will be provided by the Ralph R. Rich American Legion Post #285. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Eldon was born July 16, 1922, to Benjamin I. and Elmira (Halm) Sintek of Cotesfield, Nebraska. Eldon attended grade school in Cotesfield and graduated from Scotia Public School in 1941. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bernice Wilson, on June 22, 1942, in Grand Island. To this union two daughters were born, Sonja Rae, and Joanne Kay (Jody). Eldon and Bernice both attended school in Cotesfield, but did not know each other until meeting for a dance in 1941. It was reported that both of their parents knew of each other when both families lived east of Cotesfield in the canyons. Eldon and his brother, Lyle, had to walk over the hills to the country school along by the North Loup River. Eldon’s family lived by the Cotesfield washout. After graduation, he went to Rockford, Illinois and worked in the Steel fields; living with his Uncle Hank and Aunt Esther (Halm – his mother’s sister). Eldon entered the Army on November 2, 1942, and was honorably discharged on December 25, 1945. After discharge, he worked for the Cheese Factory in North Loup. He also started farming in 1946. He, Bernice, and daughters moved to north of North Loup in 1948, and lived on the farm owned by Dr. CJ Miller until 1979, when they moved into North Loup. They were proud of that move because it was their very first home that they owned. Eldon was very involved in farming, raising cattle, going to dances, playing cards and ALL family activities. Eldon was a proud military man. He belonged to Army Company C-711 Tank Battalion in World War II in the Pacific Theater. This group of men and their wives (or widows) met for many years for army reunions. Eldon and Bernice enjoyed going to all the army reunions which took them across the United States. With Eldon’s passing there is only one remaining member of the Battalion. Eldon was very much involved with the community. He served on District #42 School Boar, ASCS Board of Directors, Director for Selective Service Board of Valley County FHA, Valley County Veterans Board, Charter member of Ord Elks Lodge, North Loup Elevator/COOP Board, United Methodist Church, North Loup Lions Club, VFW member, and American Legion. Eldon was an American Legion Life Member of 71 years. He was appointed in 1973 to the Loup Valley Rural Power District until 2003. He also served on the G&T Association Board in Columbus with Galen Hansen of Scotia who attended all the meetings with Eldon. He is survived by wife, Bernice, of Burwell, NE; daughters, Sonja, and husband, Dann Wagner of Burwell and Jody and husband, Dale Lane or Ord; grandchildren, Kimberli Stine and husband, Jesse Sanchez of Tolar, TX, Craig Stine and wife, Yang of Atlanta, GA, Doug Stine of Burwell, Tad Lane and wife Kelly of Omaha, Brant Lane of Sioux Center, IA; great-grandsons, Benjamin Appleby and wife, Rachelle of Coral Springs, FL, Tyler Lane and wife Dannie of Omaha, Trevor Lane and significant other, Emili Davis both of Omaha,Luke and Jake Lane of Sioux Center; great granddaughters, Jessica Bokish and husband, Geoff of Zebulon, NC, Chelsea Appleby of Lauderdale Lake, FL, Kandice Proctor and husband, Morgan of Ajar, NC, Kelsey Ferguson and husband, Daniel of Scottsdale, AZ, Kailey Lane of Lawrence, KS; great-great-granddaughters Elisabeth Appleby, Abigail Bokish, Amara Bokish; great-great-grandsons, Callaway Ferguson, Cole Bokish and Leo Lane; brothers, Lyle Sintek and wife, Lucienne of North Loup, Bennie Sintek of Ord; and Gale Sintek and wife, Beverly of Spring, TX; with many nieces and nephews. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin and Elmira Sintek; an infant brother Willis; and a great-great-granddaughter, Lilliann Proctor.
