Arrangements are under the direction of Scheer Memorial Chapel, 533-5255. ************************************************************ Lawrence native, Mr. Eldon Joseph Ostdiek (Pete) age 77, passed away in the Oroville hospital in Oroville, Calif., on June 1, 2015. He was born on January 28, 1938 at Lawrence, Neb., to Joseph and Helena (Menke) Ostdiek. Pete attended the St. Stephen parish Catholic School and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1956. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1961. He later served in the Peace Corp. for two years in Belize. Eldon lived in Alaska for nearly 40 years where he homesteaded and also worked for the Transit systems in Alaska. Mr. Ostdiek was married to Paula Hohl on April 23, 1973. To this union, two sons were born. He moved to California about ten years ago to be near family. Eldon is survived by two sons: Luis of San Francisco, Calif., and Joe (Liz) and three grandchildren of Folsom, Calif.; his siters: Betty Kucera of Lawrence, Rose (Ed) Kalvoda of Hastings; Connie (Ken) Coup of Pennsylvania; and brother Don (Elaine) Ostdiek of Lincoln, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at Scheer Memorial Chapel and Mass at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Oroville on June 6, 2015. Interment will be at the Nor Cal Veterans Cemetery at Igo, Calif.
