Growing up in the area, Eldon attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School. Noel 86, passed away Sunday, October 18th, in Abilene. He was born July 10, 1929 north of Abilene, the son of Abram and Esther (Minter) Noel. Growing up in the area, Eldon attended local schools and graduated from Chapman High School. He attended two years at Upland College in Upland, California, earning an Associates Arts Degree before returning to run the family farm. On December 22, 1952, Eldon married Betty L. Blackketter in Upland, California. Most of their married life was spent farming north of Abilene until retiring in 1995 and moving to Abilene in 2010. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sports and serving as a Dickinson County Commissioner. Eldon was a member of the Zion Brethren In Christ Church and was involved in The Gideon’s Society, MDS, Boy’s Brigade, Farm Bureau and the Red Cross Board. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dale, Paul and Raymond Noel. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 22nd, at the Zion In Christ Church with Pastor Jay Johnson officiating. Cremation will follow after the service. The family will receive friends 5:30 – 6:30 PM Wednesday, October 21st, at the Danner Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions in his name be made to ????? they may be left at the church the day of the service or left at or sent in care of the Danner Funeral Home POB 758 Abilene, Kansas 67410.
