The cause of death was pneumonia. Mrs. Hewitt was the mother of eleven children, six boys and five girls, all of whom are living except one daughter. She has lived with her husband and most of her children at the old homestead near Mumford, this county, for a number of years. She enjoyed the love and respect of her neighbors, and was a pious lady. Her death was a surprise and caused feelings of deep regret among her friends and acquaintances. The funeral was preached at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning by Rev. Hayes, of Kingman county after which the body was laid to rest in the Mumford cemetery. IN MEMORIAL "In the midst of life we are in death." There is something very sad in the freshness and beauty of the bright days of our new year to the bereaved household in our vicinity. Sad, because the eyes of their loved one are forever closed upon this beautiful world with all its love, joy and sweetness. Another wife has gone: another mother has looked for the last time upon the children for whom she has toiled and prayed. Last Wednesday the hearts of this community went out in deep sympathy to Isaiah Hewitt and his children as they followed the faithful, affectionate wife and tender, loving mother to the cemetery where she was laid away from the sight of this world forever – gone in the noon-time of life, when the love of husband and children made life so dear. It is hard, almost vain, to speak words of comfort to the stricken hearts who are to-day mourning for the beloved dead. Beautiful flowers lay upon the bosom forever stilled, and as the casket was closed tears of sympathy from those assembled fell for the mourning husband and children. May the hand of the Master lead and sustain them in this, the greatest affliction that can come to them. O.L.M.
