Burial: 1945, Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Cedar County, Iowa Obit Tipton Newspaper June7, 1945 Mrs. Oliver Ehresman, age 31, and 18 month old daughter, Doris Luella, were burned to death in an explosion and fire in their home, Tuesday afternoon about 5:30 o'clock. Mr. Ehresman, who was outside at the time, rushed to the house but was unable to enter because of the flames. The Tipton Fire Co. was summoned to the Ehresman home on the George Geller farm 5 miles south of Tipton, when an explosion in the kitchen range spread flame throughout the room and threatened complete destruction of the home. The bodies were removed and the flames extinguished. According to Cedar County Coroner, A. M. McCormick, Mrs. Ehresman poured kerosene from a five-gallon can into the kitchen stove to re-kindle a dying fire. Belief was expressed that Mrs. Ehresman was stunned by the explosion. Coroner McCormick said that no inquest would be held. There was an explosion and Mrs. Ehresman and her child were trapped. A friend, Mrs. Korman, who was in the kitchen, was blown into an adjoining room. Mrs. Ehresman is survived by her husband, a son,, Glen, 8, and a daughter, Gladys, 9, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Albaugh, who live near Mechanicsville, brother, Pvt. Charles F. Albaugh, U. S. Marines, T. R. Command, Camp LeJune, N. C. , Sister Margery (James) Laing and brother Harold. Funeral services for mother and babe were held at the McCormick Funeral Home in Tipton at two o'clock, Thursday afternoon with Rev. G. N. Beardslee, pastor of the Four Square Gospel Church of Tipton, officiating. Burial was in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
