Mar 2, 1957, Page 2 Eleanor Barker, Rogers Librarian Miss Eleanor May Barker, 71, librarian at Rogers High School for more than 30 years prior to her retirement 10 years ago, died early today at Forest Farm Nursing Home in Middletown. She had suffered a coronary attack Wednesday and a second attack this morning. Miss Barker was born in Newport, daughter of Dr. Christopher F. and Helen E. Peckham Barker and lived most of her life at the family home, 32 Bull St. Her father, besides being one of Newport's leading physicians, was a member of the School Committee for 27 years and its chairman for 21 years, a member of the Representative Council and for 15 years surgeon of the Newport Artillery Company. He contracted typhoid fever while attending the 100th Anniversary celebration of the Battle of Lake Erie at Put-In-Bay, Ohio with several other members of the Artillery. Miss Barker was a descendant of James Barker, one of the early settlers of Newport. Her only survivors are a niece, Mrs. Bruce Cormack of Concord, N.H., and Robinson F. Barker of Sewickley, Pa. Her brother, Dr. Williston W. Barker of Dorchester, Mass., died 11 years ago. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Hambly Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl B.
