Eleanor Harjes was born Nov. 26, 1876, in Cook County, Illinois the daughter of Fred and Margaret Harjes. When she was still a small child, the family moved to Iowa and then for a short time, moved to Kansas before returning to Iowa. On February 16, 1896 she was married to Carl Huck at Storm Lake. They were the parents of four children. One child died in infancy. The three surviving are Mrs. A. H. Niewohner, Waverly; Werner, Cedar Falls and Roy Melvin. Mr. Huck died March 1, 1909. She became a wife of Louis Braun, Dec. 18, 1912 in Storm Lake and soon after the family moved to Waverly. Mr. Braun, died May 16, 1937. May 6, 1946 she was married to John Franke in Clear Lake. He survives her as to her three children and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Franke was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and at one time served as president of St. Paul's Women's Society.
